Ballerina May 12, 2013

Ballerina rose has a beautiful spring display.  It will bloom a little during the summer and then have a good fall display, not as pretty as springtime, but pretty.  This rose is considered a short climber.  I don't think its growth habit is suitable for a climber.  I think it has a lovely weeping shape.  Understanding the shape and ultimate size of antique roses is important because there are so many!
I won't deadhead Ballerina.  Instead I will let the hips develop.  They are very pretty and will give this rose some interest during the long summer when it does not bloom very much.
