A Patch of Tall Poppy Mallow in the Meadow March 30, 2020

Maybe not the best quality photograph, but this is a large stand of tall poppy mallow.  This all came back from last year, much stronger than year one.  This wildflower is a very good re-seeder.

Flowers Blooming in my Vegetable Garden Right Now March 30, 2020

I like to have flowers interspersed with my vegetables.  It throws off the insects that are looking for certain types of plants.  Biodiversity is a good thing in the Vegetable Garden.
My Larkspur reseeds.  It comes back to this particular spot every year.

Below, this is tall poppy mallow.  I love it because the color is so vivid and the leaf shape is really pretty.  This is the first time I've grown it in my Vegetable Garden.  I sowed the Meadow with it last year, and it reseeds prolifically (so I might regret having it in the Vegetable Garden - we'll see).

I sowed it in half this 4 x 4 bed.  In the other half of the bed I have garlic growing.

Eve's Necklace March 29, 2020

This little tree is native to Texas.  It blooms in the spring.  The flowers are highly scented.  It is a deciduous tree, and it is an understory tree - although I think mine would grow better if it had more sun.  When it sets seed the pods are long and resemble beads hence the name.  The flowers are so pretty and delicate.

Snowball Bush March 29. 2020

Viburnum macrocephalum sterile is the name of this pretty little semi-evergreen vase-shaped large shrub.  The leaves that stay on the shrub are not very pretty - I would prefer they jut drop off because they don't look very good.  But they are a small sacrifice when you see the pretty flowers in the spring.

Spiderwort March 27, 2020

I have two varieties of spiderwort in my gardens.  One came from the old house on Nixon Lake Rd, and the other made its way on its own (the wild variety that grows everywhere on the property).  They are both really pretty.  A perfect blue.
