Flame Acanthus is the larval plant for the Texas Crescent butterfly which is why I grow it. I grow plants that will attract butterflies. And it has pretty orange tubular flowers that hummingbirds love.

Flame Acanthus July 14, 2013
Flame Acanthus is a deciduous perennial. It spreads like crazy because if it droops on the ground it will root where it touches the ground. I dug up pieces of it last year and planted it in several places in the Star Garden.
