Reds in the Fall Garden October 2, 2021

Oxblood lily - this is its time.  It's a fall bloomer.  After all the rain they have really been popping up.

This is red canna.
This is Cypress Vine.  They close up in the afternoon heat, not as early as morning glories do.
This is celosia.
Tabasco peppers.
Red amaranth.  Amaranth is a grain plant.  The seeds can be ground into a flour.  And when the leaves are young they can be cooked and eaten or added to salads.

Red Turks Cap.  This is a Texas native, and the tiny apple-like fruits are edible.  It is much loved by hummers and Sulphurs.
