The weather this weekend was perfect.
- I spent a lot of time raking the Shade Garden and clearing debris from the paths and the beds. It's starting to green up a bit, but it is always slow to come around.
- I planted a flat of southern fern in the Shade Garden. I turned several beds in order to plant them. The beds of the Shade Garden are a solid, dense mat of roots, so it is a bear to work in the area.
- I also spent a lot of time raking and weeding the Rose Garden. I raked the path along the Long Border.
- I pulled up some poppies in the Long Border, turned the soil, and planted some Rose Campion seeds and some Perennial Ageratum seeds. Weeded, weeded, weeded.
- Sprayed herbicide in the driveway, the Vegetable Garden, around the pool, in the Infinity Garden, around the arbor next to the house, the Rose Garden, various paths, and the Orchard.
- Watered here and there.
- Moved my Anacachoe Orchid Tree to a sunnier spot. It wasn't thriving in its old place, too shady.
- Helped my husband bring down three dead trees.
- Soaked some Carnevale di Venezia Morning Glory seeds overnight in water. Planted them next to the arbor at the front of the house and by an arbor in the Long Border. The arbor in the Long Border is made from the bed springs from a double bed that we burned.
- Planted some Cypress Vine seeds around a trellis in the Long Border.
- Planted Milk Maid Nasturtiums in the Vegetable Garden and amongst the crocuses - the crocuses are going dormant.
- Walked around a lot and admired the emerging beauty of spring. The fruit trees are beginning to bloom (the Red Baron below is in full bloom), and the white bearded irises are lovely.
- Made a kale salad for dinner Saturday night with kale from the garden. Also sauteed swiss chard from the garden.
