What's Blooming Now - Snowball Viburnum 03/05/2012

This is Snowball Viburnum - Viburnum macrocephalum 'sterile'. I purchased this plant a few months ago (bare root) through an on line website - Woodlanders, I believe. The best time to buy plants through the mail is winter, during their dormant period. In fact, I doubt these web sites mail plants in the summer.

This is one of my treasures. It looks skimpy right now, but it grows into a large shrub. Spring brings these wonderful white pom poms on bare branches and it leafs out after the bloom period ends. I'm very excited about this old fashioned, passalong plant.
