This shrub responds well to cold winters. We had two very cold snaps this winter, and I feel like it is blooming especially well this spring. Last spring was another great spring, and prior to that was the terrible winter storm Uri. Some time ago I decided to cut it down and pull it out because I wasn't getting enough bang for my buck. Real estate is very dear around here. But then I had two good bloom years, and it got a reprieve.
