Beautyberry is a native shrub that grows wild on our property. All the Beautyberry shrubs growing in my gardens arrived there via seeds dropping - either from a bird's droppings or from other Beautyberry shrubs that arrived there via bird's droppings. I have a dozen or more, and they have sprung up on their own. The purple berries are striking. They are also edible. I have seen a recipe in the Houston Chronicle for jelly made from the berries.
